For the Love of My Horse

A Celebration of Community and Connection

For the Love of My Horse will feature the stories of riders and their equine companions. It’s an afternoon of storytelling, good company, and even better BBQ. If you’re interested in attending, please contact us at info@forkliftdanceworks.org.

Produced by Lisa Byrd
Choreographic direction by Rachel Nayer and Allison Orr
Music by DJ Orión Garcia
Community participants include Jerrie and Billy Carson, Virginia Alexander and Wilbert Darby, Jr, Barbara Tippett, and others.

A collaboration with trail riding and other horse-centered communities, For the Love of My Horse explores the unique and deep connections between people and horses. Through embedded artistic research, Forklift choreographers Allison Orr and Rachel Nayer along with Producer Lisa Byrd will gather a community of people who work with, ride, and care for horses to share their experiences through movement and stories in a community gathering on Saturday, December 7th. This initial phase of For the Love of My Horse supports Forklift artists to build relationships and generate initial connections with horse communities, laying the groundwork for wider participation and a larger-scale performance in the future.

For the Love of My Horse is funded and supported by The National Endowment for the Arts, The Texas Commission on the Arts, The Meyer Levy Fund, and Lynne Dobson and Greg Wooldridge.
